ChatGPT ads earned less per visit than search in study; TikTok Shop AI guide
A working paper reports US ChatGPT ad visits earned far less per visit than paid search, though the authors say it does not prove causation. TikTok Shop groups its Seller AI tools for Black Friday, and Google reportedly plans unmasked IPs for server-side ad tags.
Google plans per-tag IP handling in server containers, with ad tags getting unmasked IPs
According to a Google notice to advertisers reported by Search Engine Journal, server-side Tag Manager will move from container-wide IP redaction to per-tag handling on Jan. 11, 2027. Server-container tags feeding Campaign Manager 360, Search Ads 360, Display & Video 360 and Google Ads would then receive unmasked IPs, while Analytics tags stay redacted.
The notice was shared on LinkedIn and, per SEJ, had not appeared in release notes as of Nov. 3. Google's Help Center describes a Transformation that partially masks IPs for chosen tags.
Why it matters
Before Jan. 11, check every Google and third-party tag in your server containers, note which field each reads the IP from, decide whether to mask it, and confirm your consent setup covers IP data.

TikTok Shop guide bundles Seller AI tools for US sellers ahead of Black Friday
TikTok Shop published a guide for US sellers that groups the AI agents in Seller Center under the name Seller AI and maps them to Black Friday and Cyber Monday preparation. It covers Product Growth Opportunities, which the company says estimates extra orders from listing fixes, along with One-Click SEO for titles, AI-made videos and photos, and a campaigns agent.
PPC Land notes the guide gives no dates, fees or results and does not explain how order estimates are produced.
Why it matters
Sellers may want to treat projected order gains as unverified, review AI title changes and generated media against TikTok Shop content rules, and confirm which agents actually appear in their own account.

Working paper finds US ChatGPT ad visits earned far less per visit than paid search
A working paper under review by Maximilian Kaiser and Christian Schulze, drawing on 102 advertiser sites, reports that US ChatGPT ad visits brought $0.89 in revenue versus $2.45 for paid Google search visits, with conversion of 0.37 percent against 1.17 percent. Of 87 advertisers buying both, 73 recorded no ChatGPT ad sales.
The authors put a parity price near $0.26 per click, while one reported account paid $1.72. They caution the data does not prove the ads caused the results.
Why it matters
If testing ChatGPT ads, compare revenue per visit with paid search in your own account, filter out ad-review crawler visits, and keep in mind last-click data leaves out margins and later purchases.
